Abstract

This study evaluated the effect of green supply chain management on the performance of manufacturing firms in Enugu state. Specifically, the study sort to determine the effect of green procurement on the output of manufacturing firms in Enugu state and to examine the effect of green distribution on the profitability of manufacturing firms in Enugu state. The study used the descriptive survey design approach. The primary source of data was the administration of questionnaire.  A total population of one thousand five hundred and forty-two (1542), employees was used. The sample size of 308, using Freund and William's statistic formula at 5 percent margin of error. The findings of the study revealed that green procurement had significant effect on the output of manufacturing firms in Enugu state and that green distribution had significant effect on the profitability of manufacturing firms in Enugu state. The study concluded that implementing green procurement and green distribution practices leads to a positive impact on manufacturing firms. It was recommended among other things that manufacturing firms should provide education and training to their employees on sustainable business practices such as green procurement and green distribution. This can help employees understand the importance of sustainability in business and motivate them to implement these practices in their day-to-day operations.
