David Easton's contribution to political science is significant, particularly for his focus on the
political system and systems analysis. In his seminal work, The Political System, Easton proposed a five-step
approach that groups political acts into feedback loops between diverse actors in a political system. He aimed
to turn politics into a science by employing abstract models to explain patterns and processes in political life.
Easton rejected the concept of equilibrium and developed an organic vision of politics, viewing it as a living
thing that evolves and endures. He identified the political system as the best unit for analysing all political
activities and forces, and he established the notion of support in addition to the regulatory mechanism for the
political system's durability and survival. Easton's model of the political system can be viewed as a "black
box" that translates societal demands into policies, and his contributions have had a significant impact on the
study of political science.
