Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the growing elderly population on mental health and behavioral
issues, with a focus on depression. Using a cross-sectional survey approach, 50 elderly participants were
selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected using a 15-item Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS)
questionnaire. The results revealed that a significant proportion of the participants experienced mild to
moderate levels of depression, highlighting the urgent need for effective depression management strategies
and interventions. The study emphasizes the importance of educating elderly individuals on depression
management to improve their mental health and well-being
