Increased acceptance and usage of psilocybin, or magic mushrooms, has the potential to impact the
consumer goods industry, particularly those producing or selling products that could be replaced or used less
frequently. This exploratory study aimed to investigate the potential trade-offs and impact of psilocybin on
consumer products by surveying college students on their awareness, usage, and preferences of psilocybin and
other substances. The study found that psilocybin could potentially replace or decrease the use of other
products, such as over-the-counter and prescription drugs, as well as alcohol, in certain circumstances. The
survey also revealed some surprising usage and consumption traits among college students, emphasizing the
need for greater understanding and research into the impact of psilocybin on society as decriminalization and
legalization efforts continue. The study highlights the importance of consumer relevance and disruptive trends
in the growth of the consumer goods industry, as well as the potential for natural substances like psilocybin to
meet growing consumer demand for whole-body health solutions.
