This study contributes to understanding podcasting and alternative media in the context of Egypt. The study investigates the relationship between limited censorship on podcasts and the rise of youth podcast listeners. The study employs the Uses and Gratifications theory to hypothesize a correlation between the two variables, with a focus on exploring preferred topics, genres, format, length, and platform. Using in-depth interviews with a purposive sample of two students aged between 18 and 24 from Misr International University, the study finds that Apple podcasts were perceived as the platform with the most options and praises podcasts for their mobility and ease of use. The study also analyzes the impact of three popular Arabic podcasts that discuss censored or taboo topics
