Modulation Procedure in Translating an Indonesian Novel into English

Abstract

There are sixty data found which are taken from two hundred sentences in the first chapter of the novel. The data are spreading to each type of modulation but two: positive for double negative and intervals and limits. There are twenty-four data belong to the part for the whole type, three data for the type of abstract for concrete, seven data belong to the cause for effect type, thirteen data for the type of one part for another, and for the type of reversal of terms, there are four data, then for the type of active for passive, there are six data, and the last is the type of change of symbols, there are three data. As mentioned before, not all sixty data are discussed here but only some that represent each type of modulation.
